What to write on your home page when you hate writing

A three-sentence framework for founders who would rather do the work than describe it.

Plenty of very good businesses have a vague home page, not because the owners cannot write, but because describing your own work feels like boasting.

Try three sentences. What you do, in the plainest words you would use on the phone. Who it is for, specifically enough that some people are excluded. What happens next, as a single instruction.

That is the whole framework. "We rewire old houses in and around Bath. Mostly Victorian terraces and listed buildings. Send us photos of your fuse box and we will tell you what it needs." Nothing clever, and far more convincing than a paragraph about passion and excellence.

Write it badly first, read it out loud, then cut the words you would never say to a person standing in front of you.
